“Reading and Building for the World to Come”

An interview with Tadao Ando is featured in the August 2022 issue (“Book as Architecture”) of Journal of Architecture and Building Science.

(from the lead text)
Tadao Ando is a “self-taught architect” known as a prolific reader.
His vast collection of books fills the walls of his office.
He also stresses the importance of reading in staff training.
In architectural expression, the “bookshelf wall” is one of the synonyms of Ando’s architecture.
In recent years, three “Children’s Book Forest(s),” donated and designed by Ando, have opened in rapid succession.
We will talk with Mr. Ando about the relationship between architecture and books, and between architects and books.

The magazine itself is linked to the back cover, and includes some surprising tricks.
